Hi guys. I wanted to share some photos of GHQ's 1/1200 14 gun cutter, which I recently finished working on. Inspired by Vol's scratch work, I've taken to replacing the bowsprits of vessels with steel or brass rod, as the extra strength makes the rigging a lot simpler. Of course, that's a pretty simple job when the bowsprit itself is a single piece, as it is here!

I'm still mounting these models on relatively thick bases, as I find it makes it a lot easier to pick up. The sea base is a metal piece from Langton, as are the ratlines.

There are a bunch of photos on my blog here:

Exceptional, and something to aspire to!! Although, I think I'll stick with the bigger ships for now.

Wow! I have one of those and know how incredibly small the model is. Fantastic work on the details! All your paint lines are incredibly sharp.

Fine work indeed James. Your blog site has exceptional models, the 25mm infantry are brilliant the age of sail equally so.

James, that is incredible work. It is hard to get my mind around the size of the ship, and how well you painted and rigged it. :hatsoff:

Interesting to see a cutter.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like the model. I think in the next scenario I do this model is going to serve as a despatch vessel that needs to be escorted through a gauntlet of larger predatory vessels. We'll see how that works out... :)

Oddly: When I picture the ship on which I fly the flag shown in my avatar, said ship look almost exactly like that one.

Very nice James! But I've already told you that. You should post pictures of the 1/300 Langton brig you just partded with. That model was truly inspiring.

Thanks for the idea Vol, I'll go ahead and make a new thread for the 1/300 brig. Never did get any gaming done with that scale though!

James
I know what you mean about large photos, Brues talks and shows how to make them smaller on my thread "Win some, Lose some or DRAW". I have not tried it yet, but must gave it a go. Large or small you must keep posting your photo's they make me work harder.
Be safe

Thanks for the kind words and the tip Rory, I'll check out that thread for the how-to. And keep the pictures of your own lovely vessels coming!
