I found this site which lists ships of the Royal Navy. It gives a few details about each ship.

It seems to have more of "when and where" information on each ship than details on the ship. The dates in blue do provide links to James' works that give information on the event. You can also access the rest of James' works.

For those of you not familiar with William James, he is the author that wrote the six volume "Naval History of Great Britain." His works have a lot of information in them but he is very biased towards the British Navy and works reflect it when he gets off into opinion, particularly with the War of 1812. Theodore Roosevelt countered many of James' opinions in his "The Naval War of 1812." Regardless James' work is great source of information. Here is more information on him:
