Greetings all,

I've played Dreadfleet twice -- a great game. I've played Trafalgar a few times (the rules published by Warhammer Historical), using ships I made from popsicle sticks on bases made from old credit cards. Oh, and toothpicks and paper for masts and sails. I read through the "Kiss me, Hardy" rules but haven't played them. So as you can see, I'm interested in the genre but haven't done much yet.

I recently pruchased some GHQ ships -- a brig, a schooner, a privateer -- to make sure the dimensions I've got on my home-made ships are close to correct.

I'm interested to see how the SOG USS Constitution will be different from the English frigates in the game. My (limited) reading indicates that the British thought that the Constitution was a razee, and not a frigate at all. I've been to see the Constitution in Boston Harbor, so I know that although the Constitution is rated as a 44, she really has 52 cannons.

The simplicity of the SOG rules appeal to me. I will be waiting with anticipation to get my set!

And if you happen to be near Manchester NH and want to get a game in, give me a shout!

Welcome:beer: from Arizona, Ed.
Your popsicle stick, toothpicks and paper masts reminds me of the late 40's & early 50's when I sailed them down the gutters of Chicago.

Ed is a friend of mine that got me back into wargaming about 8 years ago or so (yikes!) when he introduced me to GW's Lord of the Rings miniature game. Before that I hadn't painted anything in over a decade and had only played some casual table top games since my early 20s. So I owe a lot to him. And just as he drug me into obsession then, I have been trying to lure him and some other local players into SoG. I need someone to shoot at me, after all! Though most of them had already seen the KS I like to think my casual prompting helped at least a little.

Looking forward to matchups on the high seas in Aug/Sept, Ed!

Well...Ed came on as a Lt as well so I guess we're even. And he's hook on more games than me already so I'm not going to push it.

Now, when we have Pirate Ships...THEN I'll proxy my intentions through the game. :rum:
