    Default Haynes HMS Victory.

    Owners' Workshop Manual.

Here is a book I picked up at the Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.
It is packed with detailed information. Here are a couple of pages as examples.

The Business of the commander-in-chief is first to bring an enemy fleet to battle on the most advantageous terms to himself, (I mean that of laying his ships close on board the enemy, as expeditiously as possible); and secondly to continue them there until the business is decided.

You are right Dave. It explains all those little details which the writers of naval fiction tend to gloss over, and which I like to use to add a little extra to my AAR's.
The photos are very explanatory in themselves. the thing about one picture being worth a thousand words is very true in this book.

I was thinking of asking you to build me one, what with all this time you will have hanging on your hands after Doncaster.
    Bligh.
