Default BRF: July Scenario (only if you want to).

With no taker for July I would like to put forward this shindig. You don't have to play it if you don't it's just there as a choice.

    I may have a bash.
Looks like a job for a Frigate.

...or a first rate blasting everything in its way.

But it really should be a frigate.

It also looks like a mission for a scrub leader as I'm not inclined to risk loosing two ability points from my main captains.

Yes you may as well use a young Frigate Captain with a name to make for himself.

Aha, where are all the Bolitho's, Aubrey's and Hornblowers when you need'em?

I hope this scenario might start one of them on his career.

It is most definitely right up their alley.

I think I'll send midshipman Whistleblower to steer the fireship...

Neil, I'm setting this up now and while you said we could configure as desired I'd prefer getting the batteries as intended. B7 would be the 5035 log and B2 is the 5032 log, correct? If you don't confirm in the near future I'll go ahead and set it up this way. Thanks.

I think so I don't have access at the moment to the batteries codes but go with what you have.

Thanks! That's how I set it up. On turn 3 right now.

Yeah. Designed it. Gonna sail it. Gonna win it! Got hammered on the way in (daylight?). Got hammered on the way out AAR to follow.

I realise there is no incentive to complete this mission. Take 5 Ability points if you destroy all the enemy ships and get away. Otherwise 1 for every ship damaged but not sunk. Take 1 if you get away but don't damage any ships.

I wasn't particularly worried about awards, Neil. My main incentive for doing July (and August soon) is focused on continuing to use my Sails of Glory ships. When I do finish my AAR you'll see I pretty much ignored the pirated ships once they were on fire. I suppose I could go back and redo it, but I'm going to assume the fire damage spreading much like you had in the May scenario? If the pirates were on shore they're unlikely to have enough time to put out the fires?

Like you I got hammered on the way in and on the way out so I considered the main adversary to be the forts not the pirate ships. My primary goal after the ships were on fire was to recover my boat crews?

I wonder if a dice roll fire progression on the pirate ships would work beyond actual broadsides as a substitute? In any case I'm not that concerned about getting ability points. Survival was its own reward.

Well every good captain deserves a reward, especially if you take the -2 into consideration.

Well I hope somebody manages to sink the Bu****s. I only got out with the skin of my teeth as you know.
You are right about those forts. but the loss of all my Fireship crew really did it for me.

Took a 74 to a fire fight.......wow was I outgunned! Played the 2 arcs on the fortress independently, and because each arc (left and right of respectively) were parallel I got the full broadside at times.

Also rolled to see if each battery was manned, the fortress was but the other had a 2 move delay (simple d6 roll), just in time to stern rake me! Ouch!
