True Story:
For Rose Festival here in Portland, one of the features is the "Rose Festival Fleet" -- ships from the USN, USCG, and RCN parked along the waterfront downtown.
One of the last years they allowed hoi polloi onto the ships, the Canadians sent down four of their minesweepers. They were parked next to one of the Big USCG Cutters -- one of the ones with the Bofors autocannon on the prow.
As folk are cycling around, I find myself talking to the Commanding Canuck -- the guy in charge of the whole Canadian contingent there. We discuss the finer points of his ships, and the armament of same (mainly a couple of 0.50-cals); then I look over at the CG ship next door, and, in my best Embarrassed tone, say, "You realize that monster over there outguns your entire detachment put together?"
Without missing a beat, he replies, "You noticed that, too, eh?"
Now mine.

Apparently, ‘Tidley’ is the seamen’s term for something being just right in every way.
although it is usually spelt with two "d"s.....
